Who’s she?
Hey there! Nice to meet you! I’m Isabella Gomez-Barrientos and I’m a performer based in the wonderful Windy City (pst…that’s Chicago for those of you out of the loop).
I know you all might be wondering “Why is she pursuing this extremely easy career with more than enough job security?” and the answer is actually quite simple. Storytelling has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I can’t tell you the exact age this love began because it has always been there. Between falling asleep to the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack on my CD player as a tot or watching West Side Story with my mother as a kid, I have always had a passion for stories, especially those with music.
After realizing someone could pursue theater as career in high school, I began my theater education at The University at Buffalo where I earned my BFA in Music Theatre and minors in Education and Dance. I quickly returned to my hometown of Chicago and began this wonderful adventure.
To state my mission as an artist directly: I strive to tell new stories that expose audiences to perspectives different from their own. I believe it is extremely important to represent all people in our stories as it can help us realize we’re all more similar than we think.
When I’m not professionally playing pretend, you can find me rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the 11th time, reading a book (obviously the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack got to me there), or trying the newest coffee shop on my long list of trendy spots.
